Elizabeth M. Clancy, a native of Prichard, died Tuesday at her Whistler home. She was 85.

She is survived by a brother, James Simmons of Whistler, and three sisters, Lucille S. Booth of Citronelle, Cherry Mae Sims and Dorothy Rose Lowe, both of Mobile.

Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. to noon at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland. Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Lambert Cemetery in Citronelle.

Michael L. Jackson 

Michael Lavett Jackson, an employee and a student at Spring Hill College since 1990, died Saturday. He was 43.

Jackson, a native of Mobile, was a 1973 graduate of John Shaw High School and served in the U.S. Air Force for 18 years.

He is survived by his son, Jamie Demond Jackson of Fort Hood, Texas; two daughters, Marilyn Latrice Jackson and Keshia Jackson of Kansas City, Mo.; four brothers, Paul Jackson, Ronald Jackson and Joseph Jackson, all of Mobile, and Cleon Jackson of Troy; and three sisters, Janet Street of Atlanta, Darlene Eaton of Mobile and Marie Miller of San Ramon, Calif.

Olivette Jackson 

Olivette Jackson, a native resident of Mobile, died Sunday. She was 60.

Mrs. Jackson is survived by her husband, Leon T. Jackson; three daughters Tracy M. Jackson, Tarji Jackson and Sabrina Jackson, all of Mobile; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday at Reese Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m..

Daisy W. Tucker 

Daisy Wyatt Tucker, who had worked a number of years for the state of New York, died Aug. 26 at a local hospital. She was 60.

A native of Catherine, Ala., Ms. Tucker had resided in Mobile prior to moving to New York. She returned to Mobile around 1991.

She was a member of Rock of Faith Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sisters, Gertrude Cooper, Ann Wyatt and Beatrice Wyatt, all of Mobile, and two brothers, Roosevelt Wyatt of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Ollie Wyatt of Gulfport.

Visitation will be Saturday at Rock of Faith Baptist Church from 9 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m., with burial at Gethsemane Cemetery.

Henry Clay Gipson Jr . 

FAIRHOPE — Henry Clay Gipson Jr., a native of New York and a resident of Fairhope, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998, at a local hospital.

He was 90 years old.

Gipson was a published photographer for National Geographic from 1935-1945 and produced various filmstrips for the New York Times.

He is survived by a daughter, Theresa Gipson of Fairhope; a brother, Donald Gipson of Patterson, N.Y.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association.

Esther Belle Williams 

BARNWELL — Esther Belle Williams, a native and resident of Barnwell, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998, at a local hospital. Miss Williams was a member of the Barnwell Baptist Church.

She was 87 years of age.

Miss Williams is survived by two brothers, David Williams and Bryant Williams, both of Barnwell.

Visitation will be held from noon until 2 p.m. today at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fairhope. Services will follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Glen Whitfield officiating. Burial will be in Brook Cedron Cemetery.
 

Gary A. Keaton Sr.

Gary Allan Keaton Sr., who worked for many years as a pharmacist, died Tuesday in Bogalusa, La. He was 51.

Keaton, a native of Bogalusa, resided in the Mobile area for more than 28 years.

For more than 30 years, he worked as a pharmacist. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Allan McKean Keaton II and Benjamin Fulmer Keaton, both of Mobile; three sisters, Earlene Garlotte of Bogalusa, JoAnn Phillips of Houston and Katherine Shirley of Shreveport, La.; and two brothers, James E. Keaton of Baton Rouge, La., and Harry W. Keaton of Bogalusa.

Services are set for 10 a.m. today at Serenity Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will be at the Veteran's Wall of Honor at Serenity Memorial Gardens.

Claude E. Powe Sr. 

Claude Ellis Powe Sr., a veteran of the U.S. Army, died Sunday at a local hospital. He was 71.

A native Mobilian, Powe formerly resided in California for more than 40 years and retired from H.S. Crocker and Co. of San Bruno, Calif. He returned to Mobile nearly six years ago.

Powe was a member of Greater Union Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Marsetta R. Powe of Richmond, Calif.; a son, the Rev. Claude E. Powe Jr. of Long Beach, Calif.; a sister, Lottie Powe of Los Angeles; four brothers, Rudolph Powe of Mobile, James Powe, Leo Powe and Clarence Powe, all of Los Angeles; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday at Greater Union Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until the funeral begins at 11 a.m., with burial at Whispering Pines Cemetery.

Anita Louise West

Anita Louise West, a lifelong resident of Mobile, died Mondayat a local hospital. She was 35.

She is survived by her children, Hilbert L. West and Tinisha West; her mother, Mary Louise West; two brothers, James West and Lebarron West of Mobile; five sisters, Sharon Johnson, Donna Scott and Sandra Henningburg of Mobile, Connie Moore of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Linda James Brown of Hawthorne, Calif.; and her grandmother, Reba West.

Edgar M. Jones

JACKSON, Ala. - Edgar M. Jones, a retired construction worker, died Sunday at a local health-care facility. He was 89.

Jones, a native of Gosport, Ala., resided in Jackson. He was a member of New St. Matthew's Baptist Church in Jackson where he served as a deacon, a Sunday school teacher for 35 years and a choir member.

He also was a member of Jackson Masonic Lodge No. 139.

Survivors include three sons, Matthew Jones and Odis Jones, both of Jackson, and Aubrey Jackson of Mobile; two daughters, Mary L. Johnson of Miami, and Redelia Nottingham of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a brother, Alex Jones of Los Angeles; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at New St. Matthew Baptist Church. Services are set for 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with burial at the church cemetery.

GROVE HILL, Ala. - Infant Chelsea Lauren Waddill of Grove Hill died Wednesday.

She is survived by her parents, Joni P. and Michael W. Waddill of Grove Hill, and her grandparents - Mr. and Mrs. Warren Waddill of Grove Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Hutchinson of Millry and Mr. and Mrs. Randy Phillips of Millry.

Ruby Mae Wade

THOMASVILLE , Ala. - Ruby Mae Wade, owner of Wade's Grocery, died Wednesday at a Mobile hospital. She was 82.

A native of Clarke County who resided in Thomasville, Mrs. Wade was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for more than 30 years.

She is survived by two sons, Bob Wade of Thomasville and David Wade of Ciudad Ojeda, Venezuela; a daughter, Marilyn Raybon of Thomasville; five brothers, Donald Duke of Pensacola, Dwight Duke of Quitman, Miss., Frankie Duke of Birmingham, Dickie Duke of Palatka, Fla., and Marion Duke of Saraland; three sisters, Vera Grace of Saraland, Vaudine Owens of Mobile and Kay Boutwell of Thomasville; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services are set for 2 p.m. today at Liberty Baptist Church in Thomasville, with burial at the church cemetery.

ALMA, Ala. - Micheal Eric West, a native of Clarke County who resided in Alma, died Sunday. He was 24.

He is survived by his mother, Geraldine West of Frankville, Ala.; his father, Earnest Jemison of Walker Springs; nine brothers, Willie West, Chad West, Tyrone West, Johnnie West, Jason West, Jarmey West and Earnest Williams; eight sisters, Amy West, Christine West, Brenda West, Barbara West, Beverly Williams, Quita Williams, MaQuita Williams and Viria Williams; and his grandmother, Rosie Jemison of Walker Springs.

Elam P. Fayard

ATMORE - Elam P. Fayard, who retired from Fayard Construction Co., died Wednesday in Mobile. He was 72.

A native of Harrison County, Miss., Fayard resided in Atmore and was president of GMC International. He was a member of the Lions Club.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah S. Fayard of Atmore; three sons, Gary Fayard and Allen Fayard, both of Atlanta, and Wayne Fayard of Atmore; a brother, Curtis Fayard of Atmore; and six grandchildren.

MONROEVILLE, Ala. - Elizabeth Hestle Nettles, a Monroeville homemaker, died Wednesday at a local hospital. She was 89.

Survivors include a son, Bill Nettles of Augusta, Ga.; a daughter, Elizabeth Thames of Burnt Corn, Ala.; a brother, Robert Hestle of Mobile; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

ST. STEPHENS, Ala. - Bobby Don Anderson Sr., an employee of Superior Oil Co., died Wednesday at his St. Stephens residence. He was 58.

Anderson, a native of Millry, was a member of St. Stephens Methodist Church.

He is survived by two sons, Bobby Don Anderson Jr., and James Mitchell Anderson of Rosenburg, Texas; two daughters, Barbara Ann Daniels of Richmond, Texas, and Rebecca Lynn Colunga of Rosenburg, Texas; two sisters, Annie Lois Faith of St. Stephens and Esther Mae Loper of Mobile; and six grandchildren.

McINTOSH, Ala. - Warren Eugene "Gene" Toole, an employee of M&K Construction Co., died Monday at Grove Hill, Ala. He was 40.

A native and resident of McIntosh, Toole was a 1975 graduate of McIntosh High School.

FAIRHOPE - Deda F. Hosford died Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998, at her residence in Fairhope. Mrs. Hosford was 85.

She is survived by two sons, Winford D. Hosford of Fairhope and Tilman Hosford of Loxley; two daughters, Elnora Smith of Bay Minette and Lovern Deaton of London, Ky.; two brothers, Percer Travis of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Leo Travis of Alexander, Ala.; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 6 until 8 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fairhope. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Wolfe Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles McMillian officiating.

Jane Sparkman Ward Warren

FOLEY - Jane Sparkman Ward Warren died Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998, at her Foley residence.

Mrs. Warren, age 76, was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Foley and a lifelong Episcopal member, a watercolorist and an active member in "Women of the Church."

She is survived by her husband, Dr. William S. Warren of Foley; two daughters, Susan W. Kimbrell of Raleigh, N.C., and

Anne W. Dixon of Newark, Del.; two sons, Howard B. Warren of Gadsden and David S. Warren, of Lillian; and six grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Foley.

The family suggests that memorials be given to St. Paul's Episcopal Church or to Community Hospice of Baldwin County.
